musicals
This gal makes me swooon....
The polish version of "On my own" from Les Mis...
Somehow something familiar in a foreign language sung with such heart moving vocals is so alluring and just sends goosebumps (good ones)down my arms and back!
"Last night of the world" from Miss Saigon - same polish lady..
Love this piece... especially the ending.. but it kinda gets cut...
NOw for the laughs:
Lol.. Koreans singing the Phantom of the Opera in English..:
Its not too bad.. except for the cheezy orchestra... and that the phantom mummbles through a couple of the lyrics.. haha.. and he over does that melodramatic vibrato... HAHA.. I nearly puked when he screamed "Sing for me!"... haha.. super faked...
Lady Christine seems to lose a little of her pitch close to the end.. but she's not bad..
Jekyll and Hyde - if you hadn't heard this musical.. it has really good music..
but I have yet to catch it...
Here's an amateur singing "Someone Like you"...one of my favourite modern broadway hits
If you can excuse the slight tonal inaccuracies (Which are usually edited off) - she's actually an amazing singer for a non-pro
(But I have no idea why she added pictures from the Phantom of the opera in her picture collage)
Here's another hit from the musical: "In His eyes"..
love the tune..
this is a professional recording from the musical..
take a listen - it might take a hold of you too...
Whoo... what a performance!
Well.. here's a korean version of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iShOAzbi4Vc
As I mentioned - familiar tunes in foreign languages can be very very alluring.. especially if sung by pretty korean girls!
-- ooh.. grab your tissues: an emotional piece from the musical: A new life - same korean production... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFTY27m0sLM
Oh crap.. I wanna buy this dvd man.. pretty good!
Ooh another of my all time favourite from this muscial:
"This is the Moment" - sung by a Korean tenor..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu98TgcF0VE
He's really good...
oh man.. you know what.. we should totally write musicals in Singlish!
It shouldn't be too difficult:
From Phantom of the Opera:
"The Phantom of the Opera" - "The Gui of the wayang show la!"
"All I ask of you" - "Dear, I ask you ahh.."
"Wishing you were somehow here again" - "Wah liew I sibei miss you, you know?"
From Cats:
"Memory" - "Maamerlee"
Something Barbara Steisand sang:
"Papa can you hear me?" - "Lim Bei, Hear me or not?"
Les mis:
"One more Day" - "Toomorelowe!"
"What have I done?" - " Ahh.. Alamak!"
"Do you hear the people sing?" - " You got hear simi lang sing?"
"Who am I?" - "Who me arh??"
"Stars" - " Stars" - (some things are just the same)
"Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" - " Chair bo lang and table bo lang"
(Chair no people and table no people)
"Dog eat Dog" - "Gao Jia Gao"
Jekyll and Hyde:
"This is the moment" - "This the moment la!"
"In His Eyes" -- Kua my eye for what? (Why do you look into my eyes?)
Kua simi Kua!!! Ai pah ah?? ( see what see! Wanna fight ah?)
Lol.. I have WAAY too much time on my hands...
I need to get to sleep man.. stupid alcohol wore off...I guess I should be happy I can stay up for my flight - its amazing how my body know how to switch to Singapore time... I mean, for the past 2-3 years, by this date - I'm already running around in Singapore.
